 Sri lankan vegetable bun

Dough preparation 

Flour                      500g

Butter                      50g

Sugar                       50g

Yeast                       10g

Salt                            5g

Milk powder           10g

Egg                              1

Water                    225g



Flour,yeast,sugar,milk powder mix to gather(45 seconds)then add salt,egg and cold water mix all the ingredients 

and rub it few minutes the add butter.

The dough must knead 15-20 min.then cover and rest.before you cover the dough apply oil on the dough surface(we do that because when the dough getting double in size dough surface get dry)rest the dough for atleast 1hr.



For center Filling


Mustered seeds

Onion                                    1

Garlic                                    3,4 cloves

Spring onion/Leeks              50g

Carrot                                     50g

Boild potatos                       300g

Green chillies                        2,3 

Oil                                            3 tsp

Black pepper to taste 

Chilli flakes to taste 

Lime juice to taste 

Salt to taste 


Cut onion, garlic, spring onion/leeks, green chillies and carrots in to  Small dices.


Put the pan on the stove flame must be in the medium.add 3tsp of oil in to the pan then mustard seeds in to the pan fry it until pop out all the seeds.then add diced onion and garlic fry until golden brown. Then add carrot fry 1-2 min and add green chillies, chilli flakes, black pepper and salt mix well. Then add mashed potatos and mix then tase and turn off the heat. Add lime juice in to the mixture.


(Boil potatos 10min in boiling water then darin the water and mashed)


Cut the dough into 40g balls. Shape it like triangles.put the filling in middle, 

fold 3 corners to middle squeeze the edges with finger.put the oil paper on baking tray.put the joint sides of the bun on the baking tray and give it a light egg wash and bake 180°-200°(C)

20-25 Minutes.
